BRINGING BALANCE & HARMONY TO OUR LIVES

Does your life feel stressful, out of control and rushed?

Do you feel angst, tense, frustrated, impatient, or panicked?

When you stop to relax, do you truly stop, or is your mind working over time?

If this sounds familiar then Reiki may help.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of Healing (similar to spiritual) that uses a technique that originated in Japan. It has been passed down from teacher to student since Dr Mikao Usui rediscovered it in the late 19th Century. Pronounced Ray-Key, it literally means “Universal Energy”.

It is not founded on religion and assumes all living organisms consist of an energy system (hence "universal"). The aim is to encourage the energy to flow through the body easily, as problems can occur when the flow of energy is hindered. A Reiki practitioner has been trained to tune in to the source of the universal energy, to channel and facilitate it to bring balance to the recipients own life force energy system, encouraging the body to heal itself. The recipient absorbs only as much Reiki energy as they need at the time. It believes that mind, body, emotion and spirit need to be in balance for this healing to occur.

OK, but what do you mean by "Energy"?

Energy is something we all have. There is nothing mystical about it. It is as natural as the air we breathe. It can often be felt when we sense an atmosphere in a room or an emotion from a person we meet. We sometimes know something is wrong without even asking. It is also termed as life force energy but is commonly known as an aura.

You can experience it by placing your hands about 1 inch apart , almost as if in prayer position. Gradually pull your hands away slightly and then back in. As you do it you will begin to feel a resistance a bit like magnets feel when they are in opposition.

What happens in a session?

A session is carried out either with the recipient lying on a couch or sitting in comfortable chair in a calm setting.   It does not require the removal of clothing and no pressure is applied.  Calming music may be played if desired.

Reiki is a deeply relaxing and calming therapy.  As a result of the flow of energy through you, during a session you may experience a floaty or light feeling, warmth, tingling, coolness or sometimes nothing other than tranquility.

The practitioner places their hands either on or over the body.   However, as Reiki aims to bring balance to mind, body emotion and spirit, healing takes place in many forms. A part of this process is releasing old emotions or thought patterns that no longer serve you. A session may therefore include time for you to talk this through or meditation to help release it, if you would like.

Healing can be likened to the slow peeling of layers off of an onion. All the layers relate to the core issue but you have to go through each layer to get there.

As with all therapies that work with energies, the effects of a session may not be felt straight away.  However, the energies will continue to work for a few days following your session.  Some may experience a release of emotion so the following days may also be full of contemplation. This is common.

It can also be dehydrating and it is advisable to be responsive to your body’s needs, to rest when you need to and to drink plenty of water.

Please note: Reiki is not an alternative to conventional medicine.  You should therefore always consult your GP about acute or infectious conditions, and in connection with problems of an urgent nature.

How many sessions?

The number of sessions required vary from person to person depending on the reason they require Reiki.  Even one single treatment can be beneficial.

If you are looking to treat a particular condition it is advisable to initially have a full session.  This will include a consultation and will last approximately 1.5 hours.  At the end of a session, follow up sessions and progress will be discussed. However, to feel the full benefit it is suggested you initially try 3 sessions .

Lisa is able to visit you at home,  or why not contact Lokás regarding on-site sessions at your workplace.

Reiki at Work

In our busy lifestyles, it is difficult to find the time to keep fit and attend treatments or relaxation therapies that we know that could be of benefit.

As an employer you know that a happy, contented, healthy team can increase your company’s productivity. So have you ever considered making therapy treatments available to your staff on-site?

As Reiki is a therapy that requires very little equipment, all that is required is a quiet room. It can be easily fitted in to a lunch hour or after work too.

If you are interested in providing Reiki to your staff on-site, please use the contact form to make an enquiry.
