Hello. I am Lisa Dye, I founded Lokás in 2006 at the start of a dream to offer Healing to both Humans and Animals.
Having grown up in an environment open to the use of complementary therapies, I have always been aware of their effectiveness alongside traditional medicine. My initial interest began in my early twenties when I attended an aromatherapy class at night school. I was however, also interested in human behaviour and in 1997 decided to concentrate on studying for a degree in Psychology with the Open University . This taught me the many varying factors that can be accountable for human behaviour and in 2006 I was awarded a BSc honors degree.
I had always known of Reiki and Healing but knew nothing of what it was all about. I decided to find out more and booked myself on the Level 1 Reiki course in 2004. I quickly realized its effectiveness and found I had a natural ability to use it. As my Reiki Master said " it looks like you've come home".
Reiki helped me to face up to a few health issues, and emotions that I had held inside since my teens . It was about discovering who I am, and what I really think and feel about life and the world.
In 2006 I decided to train as a practitioner. Following this I became a member of the UK Reiki Federation (UKRF). This has allowed me to interact with fellow members, and broadened my skills and knowledge of the Reiki system.
In 2008, I completed the VTCT Certificate in Swedish Masage and can now offer Reiki massage, combining Reiki with massage for a fully relaxing experience.
Also in 2008 I became a graduate of Elizabeth Whiter's, Diploma in Animal Healing, and in January 2009, I further qualified as an Equine Healer.
I have found my knowledge of psychology and healing complement each other well. I can combine all my knowledge and skills to help understand the many factors that have led the human or animal client to require healing.
In finding a name for this site i didn't just want to use my own name. i decided to use my nickname of Lee. This relates to Lea, and means meadow or a clearing. I found out that the Sanskrit word for this is Lokás. I thought this was appropriate as Reiki works on balancing the chakra's and each one has its own Sanskrit name.
